Entrepreneurs Children Ministry
At the height of the COVID-19 outbreak, a local church, Hosanna Restauración Judá Ebenezer, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, noticed an increase of school-aged youth on school days working beside their parents selling merchandise, food, and providing services, like shoe shining, to passersby in the busy streets of the downtown district to help ends meet at home. A team came together in 2022 with an idea to support these food-deprived children and families with a hot, nutritious lunch. The Entrepreneurs Children Ministry came to fruition that day. The lunch program started by providing one lunch to 18 kids the first month. The program quickly expanded as the word spread throughout the community to two lunches a month, feeding an average of 100 youths and their families. They also started a food pantry to assist families with food insecurity, school supplies, toys, and clothing.
Oral Hygiene Kits
The idea of distributing oral hygiene kits to those in need came to Dr. Monica Ross as she prepared to go on her first mission trip to São Paulo, Brazil, in 2016. She packed 150 kits for children and teens and left them with a local ministry for distribution.
Upon returning in 2017 with another set of oral hygiene kits, she encountered youth who shared how the kits impacted their lives. For some, it was their first toothbrush, while for others, it taught them the importance of having good oral health and personal hygiene. The youth's stories left an imprint on Dr. Ross's heart and the realization that she needs to continue to share this with the world. Dr. Ross has distributed over 500 oral hygiene kits at different events throughout the Central Florida community and is working with other organizations in Central Florida and Guatemala to continue promoting healthier lives with healthy smiles.
